MODFLOW Overview
MODFLOW, "A Three-Dimensional Finite-Difference Ground-Water Flow Model" by Michael G. McDonald and Arlen W. Harbaugh, is the most widely-used ground-water
model in the world.

MODFLOW
is the name that has been given the USGS Modular Three-Dimensional Ground-Water Flow Model. Because of its ability to simulate a wide variety of systems, its extensive publicly available documentation, and its rigorous USGS peer review, MODFLOW has become the worldwide standard ground-water flow model. MODFLOW is used to simulate systems for water supply, containment remediation and mine dewatering. When properly applied, MODFLOW is the recognized standard model used by courts, regulatory agencies, universities, consultants and industry.
